Barbizon :
In the nineteenth century, this sleepy village near the castles
of Fontainebleau and of Vaux-le-Vicomte was home of many artists
belonging to the "Barbizon school" specialised in landscape
painting.
The recently restaured "Auberge Ganne", the picturesque "Maison
de Théodore Rousseau" and the "Atelier Millet", all lining the
central Grande Rue, get you into the heart of the life and work
of these painters considered as the fore-runners of Impressionism.
